Clear the Shelters 2018

The Animal Welfare League is proud to team up with NBC Washington and Telemundo44 and be part of the live coverage for the fourth annual Clear the Shelters event! Adoption fees for all animals will be waived as part of a nationwide initiative that seeks to help families find and adopt pets. Frolick Dogs is pleased to be there in support of this effort!

Last year, AWLA found homes for nearly 70 animals as part of Clear the Shelters, and this year, hopes to once again connect dozens of animals in need with brand new families. You can read more about what to consider when adopting a pet and welcoming a new pet into your home here: alexandriaanimals.org/cleartheshelters

AWLA will also be hosting a yard sale and bake sale so new pet owners can pick up discounted pet supplies that day.

Walk for the Animals - Animal Welfare League of Arlington

It's that time of year once again - time to Walk for the Animals! On Saturday, May 12, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., AWLA will once again host its annual Walk for the Animals. A yearly favorite, this event brings together more than 600 local animal lovers and their canine companions for a walk to benefit AWLA shelter animals and support the services and programs that the League provides to the community.

Frolick Dogs is pleased to host the agility course at this year's event!

The Walk and related festivities at the shelter allow AWLA to showcase the work we do, where we do it, and, most importantly, the animals in our care. Walkers will have their choice of two routes: a three-mile walk or a one-mile stroll. Both will begin and end at AWLA. Participants can enjoy tours of the shelter, meeting adoptable animals, amusements including a balloon artist, a face painter, dog training and trick demonstrations, a doggy costume contest, music, a photo booth, food trucks, vendors, and more!
